Listicle 9 Things To Look Forward To In Entertainment This 2022 10:59 AM What are the things you're looking forward to in entertainment this 2022?Can't imagine what our lives would be like if in the middle of this p a n d e m i c, Hollywood isn't here to entertain us. God bless Netflix, Spotify, Hulu, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, and all other streaming sites. I'm forever thankful for the entertainment industry! What have you been binge-watching or listening to lately? I have a few. Most of them I've already finished (in one sitting!). So I'm really looking forward to more of these shows, albums, and movies this year. This post contains affiliate links, so we'd get a commission if you purchase through the links at no additional cost to you.9 Things to Look Forward to in Entertainment This 2022 1. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4Set in the late 1950s, this series follows the story of Miriam "Midge" Maisel. She is a doting and supportive wife, mother, stubborn but loving daughter, and a woman who's trying to break the mold of women during her time. Why I love it:I love Midge's quick wit, sense of humor, and resilience.I love how she's naturally funny and doesn't let men, her family, the industry, or societal stereotyping scare her from pursuing her passion. I love how she stands up for herself, even if that means ruffling many feathers. And Tony Shalhoub! From Mr. Monk to Midge's dad, his comedic timing is notable. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is another Amy Sherman-Palladino masterpiece that's impossible not to love. The 4th season will be released on February 18, 2022, on Amazon Prime. Get 30 days FREE trial on Amazon.2. The Great Season 3This dramedy satire is about Catherine the Great's journey from an outsider to the longest-ruling female monarch in Russia. It changed my view about period dramas. Why I love it:Another series that's about a woman's rise to power and strength of character. I love her eagerness to change the rotten system and push for basic rights like proper education despite everyone looking at her like she's a big joke. She pushes on even when she feels like she doesn't belong and with almost everyone betraying her.Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult are both amazing in their roles.I love how they both slowly realized that they love each other. There's no release date yet for season 3, but Elle Fanning posted a teaser video on her Instagram.I'm looking forward to seeing more of Peter's (Nicholas) character development.Huzzah!3. Bridgerton Season 2The Bridgerton series is based on a collection of eight novels written by Julia Quinn. It's about the eight siblings of the powerful Bridgerton family finding their way in life and finding love. Why I love it:Am I the only one who wished Daphne Bridgerton ended up with the prince instead of the duke?I get it, though. A good girl meets bad boy love story really sells. And in the end, I love how the duke realized that his love for Daphne was more important than the grudge he was holding.I love the colorful dresses too---except those of the Featherington's. My favorite is Eloise Bridgerton. She couldn't care less about being social and her debut. Another lady doesn't want to conform to society and be herself. The mystery behind Lady Whistledown's true identity adds to the excitement of the show. I'm usually able to guess, but I didn't see this one coming.Bridgerton Season 2 will premiere on 25 March 2022 on Netflix.4. Only Murders in the Building Season 2OMITB is a mystery-comedy about three strangers living in an affluent Upper West Side apartment building. They bonded over their shared obsession with a true-crime podcast they got to use in solving their neighbor's murder. Why I love it:I love a mystery where just when you thought you knew who did it and how the story went, another plot twist will leave you clueless again.Steve Martin and Martin Short are Hollywood treasures. I love how they can effortlessly make you laugh. I love that you'd be surprised where the comedy would come in. You'd be so hooked on the story, and suddenly there's a line that will crack you up.Selena is lovable, as always.Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building could arrive as early as mid-2022.5. House of the DragonFinally, we'd get to see the story of the House Targaryen during the civil war that took place about 300 years before the Game of Thrones.I've not read the book, but because I like GOT series (except for the last 3 seasons, maybe), I am looking forward to learning more about Daenyres' ancestors and who among them was mad or was great. Or both? There's no release date yet, but House of the Dragon will likely premiere in the back half of 2022.6. The BatmanBatman faces one of his nemeses, The Riddler, and discovers corruption that connects to his own family. Why I love it:He may not be the most lovable DC superhero, but I like how, despite not having superpowers, Batman makes do with what he has- wealth and wit- to save his crime-riddled home city, Gotham. He is still fighting his own demons from his dark past, but he's there to defend and protect those who can't fight for themselves.I'm curious how Robert Pattinson's Batman would be different from the previous ones. The Batman is due in US cinemas on March 4, 2022.7. Shadow and Bone Season 2A young adult fantasy adventure novel adaptation by Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone is about Alina Starkov. She didn't know that she possessed a powerful ability to destroy what their people had feared and changed her otherwise ordinary life since time immemorial. Why I love it:I love a good escape from reality, and Shadow and Bone offer that. From magical creatures to supernatural abilities, it can take you to places you've never imagined.I love the bond between Alina and Mal. I'm excited to know if neophytes like them could defeat someone as adept as the Darkling. It reminds me of the usual heroes who were forced to stand up against evil, like Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen, and Tris Prior.Season 2 of Shadow and Bone will be released by the end of 2022 or early 2023.8. Taylor Swift's next album Fearless and Red Taylor's versions were on repeat on my phone when she released them in 2021. As always, TayTay's secretive when it comes to releasing her music, but she might be dropping her versions of Reputation or 1989 anytime this 2022.Reputation is my favorite album, so I'm really excited for her to remake it.Will there be another bomb in these albums like Mr. Perfectly Fine and All Too Well 10 minutes version? I don't know, but anything is possible with Taylor Swift's genius.9. Marvel movies and showsI wish that Marvel would never stop producing movies and shows---even with critics saying they're destroying the movie industry. We need a little bit of inspiration and hope, especially at this time, and I think superhero movies give us that.Moon Knight, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, She-Hulk, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are on my list.Life may be hard because of this v i r u s, but I'm glad that we live in the superhero movies era. The inner child in me rejoices. All Gifs from GiphyI am eternally grateful to the entertainment industry. For keeping us sane and being a great company in these trying times. A silver lining indeed. What do you look forward to in entertainment this 2022?
Faith Music: Mary, Did You Know? (Pentatonix) 11:39 PM Mary responded, "I am the Lord's servant. May everything you have said about me come true." And then the angel left her. -Luke 1:38 I wish my faith is as strong and pure as that of that 14-year old girl. That teenager who gave up her plans for her life risked judgment for bearing a child out of wedlock and gave her 'yes' to the Lord without hesitations or reservations despite her fears. I'm more than double her age when she demonstrated total obedience, and I admit that I still have uncertainties when I hear the Lord speak in my heart. I doubt. I negotiate. I sometimes ignore His call because it's too inconvenient for me. Or too much for my proud self. But not Mary. That brave, faithful girl who grew up that one holy night. Mary, Did You Know? Mary, did you know That your baby boy will one day walk on water? Mary, did you know That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters? Did you know That your baby boy has come to make you new? And this child that you delivered Will soon deliver you Mary, did you know That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary, did you know That your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? Did you know That your baby boy has walked where angels trod? And when you kiss your little baby You kissed the face of God Oh, Mary, did you know? Mary, did you know? The blind will see The deaf will hear And the dead will live again The lame will leap The dumb will speak The praises of the lamb Mary, did you know? That your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary did you know That your baby boy will one day rule the nations? Did you know That your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb? And this sleeping child you're holding Is the great I Am Own a copy of this wonderful, inspiring, and heartwarming song for only $1.29 This post contains affiliate links so I'll get a commission if you purchase through my links at no additional cost to you. Lux Thinking Aloud Lover 10:13 PM Lover Ever since Taylor Swift released her Lover album, I listened to it almost every day. It's not only a feel-good love-filled album but I like the theme of it. I love pink (as you can see on my page). But since c oronavirus hit the world, I stopped. I did not only disconnect from the news and social media, I also stopped listening to Lover. You may not know the weight of that but that's a big deal for me. Lover by Taylor Swift is my mood booster. It's my upper. But because I was so mentally affected and drained by this pa ndemic, I had to listen to only worship songs and inspirational talks for weeks. Looking back, I think I shouldn't have stopped listening to Lover. If it can lift my spirits, that's God's way of cheering me up. God can be found even in the secular. So, today I listened to Lover again. I sang along, I danced a little (while sitting on my office chair) and yes, my spirits have been lifted. Thank you Taylor Swift for your songs. Thank you God for the gift of music. I am writing this with Lover playing in the background and I'm swaying to it. Hang in there. Soon we'll get better (like what she said in one of her songs in this album). Your turn What playlist are you listening to at the moment? Who's your all time favorite artist?
Faith Music: Oceans (Where My Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United 4:37 PM Oceans by Hillsong United is one of the songs with the most profound lyrics I've heard about our imperfect faith and God's infinite love. His perfect love is greater than our imperfections. In our weakness, He is at His strongest. Where our human frailty limits us, He can do the impossible and bring us farther than we can wander. Our dead end is just the beginning of a new detour He has planned for us. Nothing can limit His greatness. With all that's going on right now, I thought it's right to share this music again. Let us remember how blessed we are. Let us remember how powerful our God is. He can part the ocean to let His people go. He can heal the sick and even raise the dead. There is nothing God cannot do. Let us declare in faith that this too shall pass. Our God is great than this virus. Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep? Have the gates of death been shown to you? Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness? Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this. -Job 38: 16-18 First published: 06/22/2014 8:57 PM
Music My Own Thing - Red Red Lips 12:49 PM Whenever I need a boost in confidence, I put on some red lipstick. There's something about a woman's red red lips that says: I'm the Girl Boss and I'm doing my own thing. Red Red Lips must've had that in mind when they wrote their song My Own Thing. Because even for someone who's not 100% into rock music like me, I feel pumped up and ready to conquer the world every time I hear this song. Red Red Lips website My Own Thing by Red Red Lips This song is great to play while you're in the shower getting ready for the day, in your car with your friends for a road trip or alone on your way to work, during a workout or run, and anytime you feel doubtful, really. You do your own thing. What I like most is the opening beat. I have to be honest, I keep playing the first part before playing the song in full. Also the "ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh" in the background is a fun addition. I'm that type of person who sings not only the main lyrics but as well as the second voice. 😂 It's a catchy, feel-good kind of song. I make my own fate The lyrics is also a good reminder that although we make mistakes, we make our own fate. No one is to blame. We are in total control. So we should be ready for the consequences if we decide to do our own thing. It's a fun song that makes you want to groove and again, gives you that same feeling of boldness you feel when you're wearing that red lipstick. Ladies, you know what I mean. Check out more of Red Red Lips' hits on Spotify and Soundcloud. Also check their cool music video for My Own Thing on Youtube. "My Own Thing" from the self-titled debut album "RED RED LIPS". Written, arranged & produced by The Usual Suspects. As heard on TV Series "The Bold Type" Season 3 Promo. The Bold Type Premieres April 9th, 2019. Listicle The Best Ukulele for Kids 6:20 AM I remember when my brother was a little boy; we’d enroll him in different summer classes. It is fun watching kids learn things aside from the academics. Sports, music, and the arts help not only develop kids' creativity and skills but also give them valuable lessons like discipline and determination. Speaking of music, isn’t the ukulele such a classic? It’s soothing to listen to its sound. Do you or your kids know how to play it? What is the best ukulele for kids? The Best Ukulele for Kids I always say it here on my blog: lucky are we in the era of the internet because everything we need seem to come easy. Shopping, ordering food, finding answers, even keeping in touch with friends or doing business can now be done online. So whenever I encounter something and I want to know the answer, Google is my best friend. Before you enroll in a class, purchase a product or avail a service, you do your research first. What company offers what you need? What do the previous customers think? Among the many competitors, which one is the best? If you buy something for your kids, you do the same or even double your effort. Back to the question: what is the best ukulele for kids? I’ve found out that there is more to consider than just walking into a store or purchasing the first one you see online. Factors for a quality ukulele According to Wikipedia, a ukulele is a small guitar-like instrument that generally employs four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings. Ukuleles are generally made of wood though there are some that is made of plastic or other materials. The cheaper kinds are usually made from plywood or laminate woods while expensive ones are made of solid hardwoods like mahogany. Materials That being said, solid hardwoods ukulele produces a better quality sound. The three main kinds of ukulele strings are nylgut, titanium, and nylon. Which one is better depends on your preference. Nylgut produces warm and mellow tone, traditional nylon gives warm tone and titanium brings bright and strong tone. Brand There are a lot of good brands in the market. Again, Google is your friend. Try to find on social media groups what the pros prefer, check the reviews of the brands, and find the time to visit stores and give it a test. Kala, Luna, Cordoba, Oscar Schmidt, Lanikai are some of the trusted brands out there. Soprano From my research, I’ve found that soprano ukulele is best for kids compared to Concert, Tenor and Baritone. This is because of its small neck and frets. This means it’s easy for kids to play it considering the size. Acoustic or Electric Whether you’re getting the acoustic or acoustic-electric ukulele is up to you. It really depends on your preference as either works just fine. Quality is everything If you want a ukulele that plays quality kind of music, invest on a good brand. You can’t be buying cheap to save money and expect an excellent sound or a long term use from it. You get what you pay for. I am a frugal person, but I know that quality comes with a price. You actually end up spending more when you buy cheap musical instruments because you have to change some things to fix it, or it will break easy so you'll have to buy another one. Save yourself the hassle and frustration…and money by choosing a good ukulele. How much are the good ones? The prices range from $50 to $100. Good investment goes a long way. You’re paying for good music and peace of mind. As I’ve mentioned, lucky are we to have internet on our side. You can search for and compare ukuleles online. No need to go visit stores to find the best ukulele for you. Find reviews from users. Join forums. Read articles that are informative and insightful. Even when you decide to purchase it in a physical music store, at least you know what kind or brand you need to have. Education is everything. Confession: I am a frustrated musician. When I was a kid, I wish my parents enrolled me in voice lessons, piano lessons, guitar lessons, violin and---you guessed it, ukulele. As an adult, all I can do is appreciate musical plays and movies, listen to music, and admire talented musicians. Music is a gift to mankind. What we can’t speak of or express verbally, we can do so in music. It is universal. It is an art that can unite the world; it can make everyone dance, sing, and feel. Music conveys emotions. It can shift a mood, encourage, inspire or do the opposite. Ukulele is so underrated. We always see musicians carrying their guitars or playing on their pianos or drums when doing shows or concerts. But how often do we see one with a ukulele? Personally, I can count them on my fingers. If you search on YouTube, music videos featuring ukuleles are entertaining to watch. Maybe I’m biased but it sounds calming for me. Hope you find the best ukulele for your kids---or yourself. The next time you go jamming with your friends, it will surely be more awesome with a ukulele. Hey, did you find this post helpful or entertaining? Please go ahead and share. How-To How To Get The Best Sound Experience In Your Car 7:00 PM Who doesn’t like music? Music is an instant vacation. With the right kind of song, you are transported from where you are to a different kind of world.Whether you’re just staying in and having some R&R or going for a long drive with your best buds, you can bring music everywhere. How to get the best sound experience in your car? You need a car stereo. And thanks to today’s technology and some skillful hands, you can get your car sound certified, too. There’s a lot involved when it comes to understanding how to upgrade the sound system in your car. Here’s a good example of a car stereo site that goes into detail especially for do-it-yourself types. How to Get the Best Sound Experience in Your Car 1. Create your driving playlist Search Spotify for the best driving playlists out there. Can't find a playlist you like? Make your own road trip music in your favorite music apps. Nowadays, with a simple search and click, you can be your own DJ. 2. Upgrade your speakers Here's the thing. No matter how good your playlist is, it will be rendered useless if you don’t have a good speaker to play them with. Buy a speaker that can give justice to the beats and rhythms of your favorite song. Choose quality and choose wisely. After all, the goal is to bring music everywhere. Most vehicles have low-quality speakers installed from the factory so upgrading them can make a big difference! 3. Connec music with Bluetooth. It’s amazing how listening to music evolved from carrying around a boom box to Walkman and portable CD players to playing music right from our mobile phones. But the speaker on our phones would not be enough to bring the party to the car. Connect your mobile device via a direct connection using Bluetooth. No more looking for and misplacing your wires or having your phones plugged just to play the music you love. You can still navigate with your phone’s GPS. Or your friend from the back seat in charge of the music can still update her status on Facebook while playing music through Bluetooth. 4. Get an equalizer The sound playing from a speaker of a mini Cooper will be different when played in a truck. It’s because the sound production varies from vehicle to vehicle and speaker to speaker. If you’re playing music from a streaming app like Spotify, it has an equalizer function built-in. With this, you can tailor the sound to your liking. You can boost or cut the level of treble or bass until you're satisfied. 5. Amp the sound up. An amplifier is simply a device to amplify – or increase – the power delivered to speakers. Your vehicle probably has a low-cost, low-power one in its stereo. A more powerful amplifier allows more volume without distortion when playing your favorite music with the volume up. If you shop wisely they’re affordable, but it does take additional money for installation accessories and time and labor to do the job. 6. Get a subwoofer Most vehicles come with small speakers installed.A subwoofer is a larger speaker designed only to produce bass and they handle much more power than small speakers. However, as they’re large speakers they require an amplifier to drive them to get good sound. Some are sold as a “powered subwoofer” like the kenwood subwoofers, which means both the speaker, amplifier, and speaker enclosure are built together. That’s a great option for many people. Conclusion Do you feel bad? Play some cool, feel-good music. Do you need to work out? Play your jam to get your adrenaline and good vibes flowing. If you have no idea about how to install a speaker in the car or how to choose the best products and accessories to use, don't fret. There are experts who can help you. Visit their websites’ how-to posts for more details about car audio projects you can do yourself and get the best sound experience in your car.
Music Man And Music: Interview With Soulful Artist Billy D. Johnson 8:00 AM Listening to Love Again will let you forget about the crazy world for a bit, breathe calmness in and worry out, feel loved...and love again. I'm always on the look out for good music. Not just music with a good beat or rhythm, but that with beautiful lyrics too. Something, I could relate to. A song that my soul sings about or makes me think in a good way. That's what soulful artist Billy D. Johnson's latest album Love Again is about. If you haven't yet, you've got to listen to it. Now. I had the privilege to get to know the man behind this amazing music. Here's what we talked about. Interview with Soulful Artist Billy D. Johnson About the music: How long have you been writing music and what made you start? I started playing music when I was 13 years old. I probably didn't start writing my own music until I was around 16 or 17 though. I was first inspired to play because of my dad. Which instruments do you play? I mostly play the acoustic guitar, but I also play electric guitar, bass, piano, mandolin, and a little bit on the dulcimer. Impressive! What else do you like to do during past time? Recently, I've started exercising, but music is my main hobby. What is your first (or favorite, if you can't remember the first) memory of music? I think my favorite memory would have to be recently when I was asked to play a song I had written over 10 years ago in church called "Fingerprints". Is your family musical? Other than my dad, not really. Who is your biggest influence in music? My dad would have to be my biggest musical influence. Who is one famous music artist---dead or alive, that you would want to meet? I'd have to say Anna Kendrick. She sings and she's a cutie! Do you see music as something you can turn into a full time career, or just a hobby you can earn from on the side? I've always looked at it as just a hobby but the older I get, the more I'm leaning towards making a full time career out of it. About the man - Billy D. Johnson: How do you balance your life between music, personal life and your profession? It kind of all blends together. I roll out of bed and usually grab a flavored bottle of water and head straight to the studio. I need to learn to have more fun! What do you honestly tell yourself when you look in the mirror? I think when I look at myself in the mirror, besides thinking that I need to shave more often, I think that God has given me a great gift. I know that I've made it this far because of God and I'm thankful for all that he's done for me. What is your ultimate dream in life? That thing you always pray/hope for. Well, about 3 years ago I would've told you I wanted to get signed by a major record label. Now, I think I'd just rather someone famous record my songs so that I wouldn't have to travel as much, because ultimately, I want to get married and have kids one day. I'm 32 so it seems like I'm running out of time, but I'm still hopeful that there's someone out there looking for a goofball like me. I know in my heart that God has someone for me. I've just gotta wait until the timing is right to find her. Favorite Life Quote: "Love one another as I have loved you." - Jesus Christ About the album - Love Again: Tell us more about your new album. My new album is called "Love Again". I started just for fun and before I knew it, I had enough songs to make an album. This album is all about Love. To whom do you dedicate this album? I think I'd have to dedicate my album to my future wife. The song "Find You" is about just that (finding the one). Where can people catch you and where can they buy your music? I'm not currently gigging anywhere at the moment, but my music can be found on iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify by searching "Billy D. Johnson" or by going to my website www.billydjohnson.com. What can we expect more from your music in the coming years? Any future plans you'd like to share? The only real plan I have is for this year. I hope to release a Praise and Worship album featuring some female guests. I look forward to that album. As for now, I'll be chilling with Love Again. GOOD NEWS! Billy is generous enough to give you 20% off when you purchase his album using promo code lux20 upon your check out. Valid until 11:59 pm on 04/15/2017 only. Awesome deal!!! If you're looking for a soothing music to go with your morning coffee or afternoon tea or even evening wine, Love Again is the perfect choice. If you want to stay in the bathtub or enjoy a hot shower after a long day, Love Again could help wash away the day's stress. If you're going out for a relaxing walk---alone or with your dog, Love Again will set your pace just right. If you're on the road, either for a leisurely drive, or stuck in traffic, Billy's soothing voice in Love Again is the best company to help ease your boredom or take your mind off the stress that traffic brings. I say, if you can start your day with it, work with it during the day, and even end your day still listening to it, isn't that the perfect album to listen to? With all the hullabaloo going on around today, it's so nice to tune into something that can drown the noise and remind you that what matters most in this life is love. Listening to Love Again will let you forget about the crazy world for a bit, breathe calmness in and worry out, feel loved and love again. Follow Billy D. Music Music: Earth Song (Michael Jackson) 8:00 AM I'm saying heal the planet, heal the world, save our children, save the forest. There's nothing wrong with that, right? -Michael Jackson We can't turn a blind eye and shrug off what's currently happening in the real world. Tweet The graphic, heart-wrenching images and disturbing news about war, school shootings, and animal cruelty remind me of the Earth Song. If you haven't heard the lyrics or seen the video of Michael Jackson's Earth Song, now is the right time. If after listening to it or watching him belt out his emotions and you're still not moved, I'm not sure if you're human at all. You better have yourself checked. Earth Song is one of, if not the most genius, honest, awakening, emotive songs ever written. It questions and rants about our planet's situation and what we do about it.
