How-To 11 Best Practical Life Advice To Live A Happy Simple Life 5:37 PM 11 Best Practical Life Advice To Live A Happy Simple Life Why do some people radiate happiness effortlessly? They seem content and unfazed no matter what life throws at them. They don't have it all figured out, but they're navigating life as cool as a cucumber. Maybe they know something we don't. Or maybe they just follow these 11 best practical life advice to live a happy simple life:1. Embrace minimalism.Less is truly more. Do you need that sixth pair of shoes or another coffee mug? Declutter your surroundings; declutter your life. You'll be surprised by the clarity it brings. Minimalism isn't about deprivation; it's about cherishing what truly matters.2. Nature is your friend.Time spent among trees, on the beach, or in your small garden is never wasted. Breathe in the fresh air, and feel the sun on your skin. Listen to the birds singing or the waves crashing. Not only is it a great stress-buster, but it also reminds us of our connection to the world around us. And that's not just rubbish voodoo. Science shows that the negative ions in nature give us positive vibes.3. Exercise is NOT optional. It's not about having six-pack abs or running a marathon (unless you want to, of course!). Find an activity that gets your heart pumping and your blood flowing. Choose something that you enjoy doing. Otherwise, it won't stick. Dancing, swimming, or simply walking briskly can do wonders for your body and mind.4. Learn to cook.It doesn't have to be gourmet. A few simple meals will do. There's something empowering about creating your own food, knowing what goes into it, and savoring the fruits of your labor. Plus, it's often healthier and cheaper than eating out. Go on, give the pots and pans a shake!Gifer5. Practice mindfulness.Be in the present. Worrying about tomorrow or regretting yesterday steals your joy today. Try meditation or simple mindfulness exercises to get started. Focus on your breath, then expand to your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations.Practicing mindfulness is easier than you think. According to Smiling Mind, it could be as easy as focusing on one thing, like breathing or bringing your full attention to everyday activities.6. Ditch perfection.Perfection is an elusive and unrealistic ideal. Instead, strive for progress. Making minor improvements over time can lead to significant change. Remember, life is a journey, not a destination. Keep trying and celebrate small victories.7. Express gratitude.Find reasons to be thankful every day, even for the little things. This simple act shifts our focus from what's wrong to what's right in our lives. How to practice gratitude every day?Keep a gratitude journal. Dedicate a few minutes each day to jot down what you're thankful for. It can be big things, like a promotion at work, or small moments, like a delicious meal or a child's smile. Over time, this positivity will spill into other aspects of your life.Give generously. Giving doesn't necessarily mean material things. Give your time, give your attention, and give a kind word. The act of giving promotes feelings of happiness and satisfaction. Remember, the more you give, the more you get.Nurture relationships. People matter. Nurture the relationships that add value to your life. Laugh with them, cry with them, grow with them. Investing time and energy into these bonds can provide a sense of belonging and purpose.Verbal appreciation: Sometimes, a simple "thank you" can go a long way. Don't hesitate to voice it when someone does something nice for you or if you just appreciate having someone in your life. The other person will feel appreciated, especially if their love language is Words of Affirmation.Acts of kindness: Pay the gratitude forward. If you're grateful for something, doing something nice for someone else is an excellent way to express this. This doesn't have to be a grand gesture – even small acts of kindness can significantly impact. It could be helping neighbors with groceries, volunteering your time, or simply making someone smile.Tenor8. Cultivate patience. In this fast-paced world, patience is indeed a virtue. Understand that good things take time. Be patient with others, your goals, and, most importantly, yourself.9. Laugh out loud.Laughter really heals. Laugh at the silly things, the absurd things, and even at yourself sometimes. It's a stress reliever, mood-lifter, and a natural botox. How to laugh more often:Seek out humor intentionally. Whether it's a hilarious sitcom, a side-splitting book, or jokes from a friend, aim to have a daily dose of hilarity. Laughter may be the best medicine, but it's also the cheapest!Surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Not everyone can be a stand-up comedian, but everyone knows someone who's effortlessly funny. They're more infectious than the common cold and a lot more fun!Learn not to take life too seriously. If you spill coffee on your shirt, consider it an impromptu tie-dye session. If you trip on a flat surface, call it gravity testing. Laughter often springs from unexpected places, mainly mishaps! So get over the embarrassment and remember everyone has their share of unfortunate events. It will make a good story, you'll see.Laughing yoga. Yes, it's a thing! Laughing yoga sessions might seem silly initially, but they're a surefire way to get your giggle motor running. Plus, it's exercise – who knew laughing your socks off could help you get some abs?Giphy10. Invest your time wisely.Ever done an activity that drains you more than it refreshes you? You may have taken on multiple commitments and obligations, overextending yourself and leaving little time for self-care. How about trying to rest and feeling like you ran a marathon instead? Maybe because instead of resting your mind, you're mindlessly scrolling social media and seeing posts that rile you up. Choose activities that genuinely energize and fulfill you, and let go of those that drain your time and energy. 11. Be at peace with yourself - your past and your future.Find inner harmony by accepting and making peace with who you are and what you can't control. Embrace the lessons from your past, live fully in the present, and look forward to what lies ahead. By cultivating this mindset, you can foster a sense of tranquility and contentment within yourself, paving the way for a simpler and happier life.Leading a life without complications and unnecessary stress can be surprisingly simple and achievable. It's about making small yet powerful changes to your lifestyle, mindset, and habits. Begin with one or two of these tips, then gradually incorporate more. Because, at the end of the day, the key to a happy, simple life is a habit of constant, gentle self-improvement. It's about consciously taking small steps towards a better you. What's the best life advice you've received?

These will satisfy every thrill and HEA (happily ever after) seeker out there!1. League of Unweddable Gentlemen by Tamara GillThis should be more aptly called the League of Untamable Ladies. This series mainly focuses on the POV of six badass best friends who met at a finishing school in France. Each book is about the girls navigating life after school until they meet the gentlemen destined for them. Why I love the League of Unweddable Gentlemen series:Smart and beautiful females. Not your damsel in distress. Unlike the women of their time who sit around and wait to be a wife - or mistress - of royalty or nobleman, these best friends have a life of their own. They can support themselves, definitely not needing a man to save them.Trailblazers. At a time when women are only seen as producers of heirs and when it's inappropriate for them to speak their minds, they are unafraid to be outspoken. They break the norm and go against polite society.🔥🔥🔥 Steamy historical romance.HEA. So if you want steamy contemporary romance with a lot of heart, enviably fun family dynamics, lovable characters, and a light reading that will make you smile and swoon, read the Maxwell Brothers series by Layla Hagen. Why I love the Maxwell Brothers series:Unique story and characters. I love how each brother is different from the others, so their story is also unique but equally adorable.Heartwarming and endearing. Is there really still a family that, despite their wealth, is strong in morals and fiercely loyal and supportive of each other? Maybe. But that's what makes this series endearing. Bossy Seattle Suits by Nicole SnowThe books in this series are loosely connected, but I recommend reading them in order. I just love it when the characters from the other books I read make a special appearance in the book I'm currently reading. It's like watching a movie with a surprise cameo from the big stars. The Gallaghers Series by Layla HagenAnother family blessed with good genes, a big heart, and talent. The Gallaghers will make you fall in love with their easygoing nature, loyalty, and head-over-heels love stories. Of course, they're not perfect, but their working through their flaws and differences makes them relatable and aspirational. Why I love the Gallaghers Series:Layla Hagen's characters are so easy to love. I'd love to live within the universe she's created. The Stolen Moments Trilogy by Catharina MauraI finished all three books in one weekend. Because that's how invested you'll be in Emilia and Carter's story. Starting from an innocent teeny banter, they'll leave you spinning and reeling in love, break your heart, and put it back together again. This trilogy made me an enemies-to-lovers and forbidden older brother's romance tropes fan.Why I love the Stolen Moments Trilogy:I made a separate book series review about it because I was overwhelmed with mixed emotions after reading this. No, not all characters are as endearing as Layla Hagen's. In fact, you'll loathe some of them. But, oh! Emilia and Carter's love for each other will redeem the whole story. Prepare some tissues. Stolen Moments Trilogy reading order:Stolen Moments (Emilia and Carter in high school)Illicit Promises (Emilia and Carter in college)The Ruins of Us (Emilia and Carter as adults)6. The Off-Limits Series by Catharina MauraThe books in this series are all stand-alone. Catharina only recommends reading Until You and Dr. Grant in order. And that's because Aria, the lead female character in Until You, is the sister of Dr. Grant in the second book. Aside from the beautiful, perfectly imperfect love stories of Aria, Grayson, Dr. Noah Grant, and Amara, a more profound issue affects them all. How are four books related and under one series? Professor Astor is Amara's cousin, and Silas in Bittersweet Memories is Professor Astor's friend. It makes you remember what a small world we live in. And that remarkable, heartbreaking, and baffling things could happen simultaneously, precisely like in real life. Why I love the Off-Limits Series:Silas and Alana! They're one of my top favorite romance novel couples.I like a light chick lit, but I also love it when there is more to it than just a cute love story - which you'll find in this series. I love the little mystery in Until You and Dr. Grant and how it slowly unravels as you read it. 🔥🔥🔥 Slow-burning passion, steamy scenesBeautifully intertwined. The other characters' stories unfold and are lightly mentioned in the other books. I love how Catharina does that! HEA-guaranteedThe Off-Limits Series reading order:Until You Dr. Grant Professor Astor Bittersweet Memories7. The Windsors by Catharina MauraThe Windsors can definitely give the Maxwells a run for their money. Dropdead gorgeous, insanely wealthy, extremely possessive alpha males, and despite all the stature and fame, remain fiercely loyal to their family and the person they're with. This series is not finished yet. Catharina promises to write about the six Windsor siblings. There are only three books published as of this writing. And yes, I am like a kid waiting for Christmas day to arrive for the rest of the series. These are arranged marriage romances. I didn't know I could get to this trope, but Catharina Maura's magic converted me.Why I love the Windsors:I can't even find the words! After reading the books, especially The Wrong Bride, I've wanted to write a raving review about it. But until now, I'm dumbfounded. It may be full of angst, but IT IS SOOOO GOOD you have to read it. I wanted to reread it, but my heart isn't ready yet.The Wrong Bride will seriously get you hooked. I finished it in one day.The characters are seemingly perfect but also flawed. So human and so unreal at the same time.Like other CM stories, it will make you fall in love, break your heart into a thousand pieces, and stitch you back together beautifully.Ares and Raven just stole my heart.Luca and Valentina (though I didn't like how they were arranged to be together, their love for each other shone through).Despite the whirlwind of love, it's HEA-guaranteed!The Windsors reading order:The Wrong Bride (Ares and Raven)The Temporary Wife (Luca and Valentina)The Unwanted Marriage (Dion and Faye)8. The Miles Family Series by Claire KingsleyWant another fun, dependable, and they-must-be-related-to-Adonis-or-Aphrodite family? Then get to know the Miles family. This small-town romance is about second chances, solid friendships, and a quirky family tradition. Claire Kingsley makes me want to abandon the city and glamorous life set up by Catharina Maura, Layla Hagen, and Nicole Snow, drive down the small town, and live in a cottage in a vineyard. Why I love the Miles Family Series:The simple life, strong family ties, and heartwarming romance.Sweet love story with steamy scenes that will keep you hooked and swooning. If I have to pick a favorite sibling, it will be...no; I tried. But I can't. They all complement each other and make this family the delightful bunch that it is.You'll love not just the Miles siblings but their love interests. Each story is unique, with plenty of humor and peppered with a bit of seriousness to keep it balanced. It would definitely be fun to be part of this crazy family.Living in the stunning family vineyard.HEAThe Miles Family Series reading order:Broken Miles: A Second Chance Romance Forbidden Miles: A Brother's Best Friend Romance Reckless Miles: A Playboy Romance Hidden Miles: A Wounded Hero Romance Gaining Miles: A Miles Family Novella 9. The Bailey Brothers Series by Claire KingsleyThe Baileys and the Miles are somewhat related because of one character in the story. So the Miles family would make a few appearances in the Bailey brothers' life. Another small-town romance but with a touch of mystery that envelopes the whole town, leading to endless pranks between two feuding families (Baileys vs. Havens). Why I love the Bailey Brothers Series:Like the Miles, I love how the Baileys are steadfast, always prioritizing their family. The subtle mystery and how it shaped the town for what it is.The intense love between the characters, especially Grace and Asher (Books 1 and 2) and Levi and Annika (Book 6). It's not just a cute flippant kind of romance. But profound, defying-the-odds sort of love. The female leads and how they're perfect for each brother. Then Jetty Beach is perfect for you. Not all characters are blood-related, but it's a small town, so they know each other. I've made it my life mission to finish Claire Kingsley's books, and she's made it easy. I'm hooked and swooning on her romance book series, and I'm confident to accomplish that mission before the year ends. Why I love the Jetty Beach Series:Easy readSweet and spicyCharming characters. The Always Series by Claire KingsleyTechnically, two stories and a follow-up novella, The Always Series, is another must-read. Siblings Selene and Braxton and their best friend Kylie will make you swoon and get hooked. Though I think Braxton should have groveled more. Lol!Why I love the Always Series:It's a long ride for the characters to finally get where they were, but HEA ultimately wins. The loyalty between these three friendsThe Always Series reading order:Always Have (Bad Boy Romance, Friends-to-Lovers, Forbidden Romance)Always Will (Hot Office Romance, Bad Boy Romance)Always Ever After12. Stonewood Billionaire Brothers Series by Shain RoseShain Rose writes steamy romance novels about rich and powerful alpha males who love with great passion. She sometimes writes with a mention of violence (think mafia bosses or domestic abuse). Although, in my opinion, the Stonewood Brothers series is the least "violent." Or I'm just more used to sweet and wholesome love stories. But she still writes beautifully, and I promise to also read all her works, especially on the Hardy siblings. Why I love the Stonewood Billionaire Brothers Series:I love reading about ridiculously rich people to see how their lives are.The female leads are strong women who are the best match for them.Steamy scenesHEA The Stonewood Billionaire Brothers reading order:Inevitable (Second Chance Romance)Reverie (Opposites Attract)Thrive (Friends-to-Lovers) 13. Bootleg Springs Series by Claire Kingsley and Lucy ScoreJust when I thought no family could be more fun than the Miles and the Baileys, along comes the Bodines. And while I assumed fraud mystery and stealing squirrels were adorably intriguing in the Baileys, nothing could have prepared me for Bootleg Springs. It's quirky, quaint, and borderline crazy, but it makes me want to pack my bag and move there. There's something magnetic about this series. And it's not just the secret hot springs, the missing person mystery, or their trademark Bootleg Justice. I don't know; maybe it's the Moonshine in everything (you'll have to read it so you'll know!).Why I love the Bootleg Springs Series:Bootleg Springs is a small town like no other. I wish it was real. Health & Wellness Do I Have High-Functioning Depression? Signs And Treatment 12:51 PM Do I Have High-Functioning Depression? Signs And Treatment I've not been diagnosed with depression, but I've experienced persistent sadness or emptiness, lost interest in everything, or withdrawn from others. So, do I have high-functioning depression? Because these are the signs that a person is suffering from it. High-functioning depression is a subtype of depression where you can still maintain your daily routine. Still, your mood and energy levels are affected. I'm too stubborn to succumb, but it could be difficult. I see how people struggle, so I read more about high-functioning depression, how to recognize the symptoms and learn some effective treatments to help. Understanding High-Functioning Depression This type of depression is often called dysthymia or persistent depressive disorder (PDD). It's a mental health condition that affects many, but it can be challenging to identify because the symptoms are not always obvious. What is High-Functioning Depression? High-functioning depression is a type of depressive disorder characterized by persistent sadness, hopelessness, and emptiness. Unlike major depressive disorder, high-functioning depression is low-level and chronic. This means that people with this condition may have symptoms for years without realizing they are experiencing depression. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), high-functioning depression is a subtype of PDD. However, it's important to note that PDD is not the same as major depressive disorder, although the symptoms may be similar.Read Me This Signs of High-Functioning Depression One of the reasons that high-functioning depression can be complex to identify is that people with this condition may not exhibit the classic signs of depression. Instead, they may appear to function normally, even though they struggle with persistent sadness and hopelessness. Some of the signs of high-functioning depression include: Persistent feelings of sadness or emptiness Feeling hopeless or pessimistic Feeling guilty or worthless Feeling irritable or anxious Losing interest in everything Withdrawing from others around you Feeling tired and fatigued Changes in sleep patterns Decreased productivity Difficulty concentrating Disinterest in once enjoyable activities The severity of symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people may experience only a few of these symptoms, while others may experience all of them. I recognize these symptoms. Sometimes, I experience them all at once; other times, just a few at a time. This video describes how I am pretty well. Overcoming the Stigma of High-Functioning Depression One of the biggest challenges of living with high-functioning depression is the stigma surrounding mental health conditions. Many people with depression feel embarrassed to seek help and may try to hide their symptoms from others. In my case, I was raised in an environment that did not recognize how natural depression is until the past few years. As a result, people easily shrug off the condition; sadly, some would even make fun of it. Thankfully, we're not putting a light on mental health. More people are aware that depression is a real and treatable condition. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Mental health professionals can help you overcome depression and other mental health conditions. In addition, they can provide you with the support and guidance you need to live a fulfilling life.Tenor Causes of High-Functioning Depression High-functioning depression can be hard to identify as the person may appear to be performing normally. However, several factors can contribute to the development of high-functioning depression. 1. Genetics and High-Functioning Depression Genetics can play a role in developing high-functioning depression. If your family has a history of depression, you're more likely to develop the condition. In addition, research has shown that specific genes can increase the risk of depression, but it is not yet evident how these genes interact with environmental factors. 2. Trauma and High-Functioning Depression Trauma is another factor that can contribute to the development of high-functioning depression.Traumatic experiences such as abuse, neglect, or violence can affect mental health. People who have experienced trauma are more likely to develop depression, including high-functioning depression. 3. Substances and High-Functioning Depression Substances such as alcohol and drugs can also contribute to developing high-functioning depression. While these substances may provide momentary alleviation from depression symptoms, they can ultimately make the condition worse. Substance use can also interfere with treatment and make it more taxing to manage depression. 4. Personality and High-Functioning Depression Personality traits can also play a role in the development of high-functioning depression. For example, people who are perfectionists or have high anxiety levels may be more likely to develop the condition. In addition, introverts or people who tend to suppress their emotions (me!) may be more likely to experience high-functioning depression.Gifer Symptoms of High-Functioning Depression If you are experiencing high-functioning depression, you may not even realize you are depressed. You may feel like you are going through a rough patch or are always tired. However, if you struggle with the following symptoms, it may be a sign of high-functioning depression. 1. Depressed Mood One of the most common symptoms of high-functioning depression is constant gloom or emptiness. You may feel like you are in a fog or just going through the motions of your day-to-day life. You may also feel hopeless or pessimistic about the future. 2. Low Self-Esteem People with high-functioning depression may also struggle with feelings of worthlessness or guilt. You'll feel that you're not good enough or a burden to others. These feelings can be complicated if you try to maintain high productivity at work or in other areas of your life. 3. Irritability High-functioning depression can also cause irritability or anxiety. You may feel like you are on edge all the time or easily frustrated by things that do not usually bother you. This can make it exhausting to maintain healthy relationships with others. 4. Energy and Appetite Changes Another symptom of high-functioning depression is changes in energy levels and appetite. You may always feel tired or fatigued, even if you get enough sleep. Alternatively, you may struggle with insomnia or other sleep problems. You may also experience changes in appetite, either overeating or not feeling hungry at all. 5. Difficulty Concentrating and Making Decisions High-functioning depression can also make it difficult to concentrate or make decisions. It will seem you have mental fog or cannot focus on tasks that used to be easy for you. This can make it hard to be productive at work or to enjoy hobbies and other activities. 6. Insomnia and Other Sleep Problems Finally, high-functioning depression can also cause insomnia or other sleep problems. You may struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep throughout the night. This can lead to even more feelings of fatigue and exhaustion during the day. High-functioning depression can be just as severe as other forms of depression, and getting the help you need to feel better soon is essential.Tenor Diagnosis of High-Functioning Depression If you think that you or someone you know may be experiencing high-functioning depression, it is crucial to seek the help of a healthcare provider or mental health professional. Only a qualified professional can diagnose high-functioning depression, as it has similar symptoms to other mental health conditions. Talk Therapy and Diagnosis One of the most common ways to diagnose high-functioning depression is through talk therapy. A mental health professional will conduct a thorough evaluation, including asking about your symptoms, medical history, and any family history of mental illness. They may also ask you to complete a questionnaire to evaluate the severity of your symptoms. During therapy sessions, you can discuss your thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment. Your therapist will work with you to place negative thoughts or behaviors contributing to your depression. They may also teach you coping skills and strategies to manage your symptoms. Medical Diagnosis of High-Functioning Depression Sometimes, a healthcare provider may also use medical tests to diagnose high-functioning depression. They may perform a physical exam and blood tests to rule out any underlying health conditions causing your symptoms. They may also refer you to a mental health professional for further evaluation and treatment. There is no single test to diagnose high-functioning depression; finding the correct diagnosis and treatment plan may take time. However, seeking help from a qualified healthcare provider or mental health professional is the first step towards managing your symptoms and improving your quality of life.Giphy Treatment for High-Functioning Depression If you have been diagnosed with high-functioning depression, various treatment options are available. The two primary types of treatment are psychotherapy and medication. 1. Psychotherapy Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, involves talking to a mental health professional about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This therapy can help you identify and change negative thought patterns, design coping strategies, and improve your mental health. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapy that effectively treats depression. It focuses on revising negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to depression. Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and mindfulness techniques can also help manage high-functioning depression. 2. Medication Sometimes, medication may be required to manage the symptoms of high-functioning depression. These are the commonly prescribed medications for depression:Traditional MedicationSelective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs)Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs)Serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) SSRIs work by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. This can help improve mood and reduce anxiety. TCAs and SNRIs work by increasing the levels of both serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. They can be effective in treating depression, but they may also have more side effects than SSRIs. Medication should always be prescribed and managed by a qualified healthcare professional. They can help you find the proper drug and dosage for your needs.Exploring Alternative ApproachesAnother approach that's gaining attention is cannabis edibles. They are produced in various forms and preparation methods by different brands. But can you buy edibles online legally? The short answer is yes. Despite the complexities and legal scrutiny surrounding cannabis products, there are reputable online sources where you can purchase them. These products undergo rigorous testing, ensuring safety and accurate dosing information. You can check your state's laws and explore these options and discreetly and legally.3. Lifestyle ChangeLifestyle changes can also help manage high-functioning depression. Examples of lifestyle changes that you can apply.ExerciseGood nutritionSelf-careGetting quality sleepInteracting socially with people who you care aboutYou can manage your symptoms and improve your mental health with the right treatment plan.Tenor Living with High-Functioning Depression Living with high-functioning depression can be grueling. Some days, even getting out of bed is too arduous for me. But it is possible to manage your symptoms and maintain a fulfilling life. Here are some tips that I can share to help you navigate life with high-functioning depression (based on personal experience and thorough research). 1. Keep a journal to identify and manage triggers Identifying and managing triggers can help you prevent or minimize depressive episodes. Keep a journal to track your moods and identify patterns. Once you've placed your triggers, you can take steps to avoid or manage them. Some common triggers include: Work-related stress Relationship issues Financial problems Health issues Trauma or abuse It is necessary to manage your stress levels. Engage in activities that help you relax, such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises. Exercise can also be an effective way to reduce stress levels. 2. Maintain Relationships Depression can make maintaining relationships challenging but staying connected with your loved ones. Communicate openly with your family and friends about your condition and how they can support you. Consider joining a support group or seeking therapy to help you manage your symptoms. And a crucial lesson I've learned: Stay away from people who make your depression worse.
